Samsung Electronics and LGD Stopped Supplying Panels of High-end Smartphones to China

As we all know, the United States further tightened its restrictions on Huawei in August, banning suppliers from selling chips made using American technology to the Chinese telecom giant without special permission.

Reuters quoted South Korean network media chosunbiz as saying on Wednesday that due to restrictions in the United States, Samsung's electronic display department and lgdisplay, which mainly produce panels and displays, are expected to stop supplying panels for high-end smartphones to Huawei Technology Company.

Among them, Samsung electronic display department is the main supplier of OLED displays for Samsung Electronics and apple. The company declined to comment on the news.

Samsung's electronic display department and LG display decided to stop supplying to China from the effective date of the restrictive measures on September 15, because the ban includes chips required for the operation of display equipment. Like LGD, Samsung said that compared with apple and other customers, orders from Huawei do not account for a large part of its business.

Lgdisplay said in a statement that in view of its limited panel shipments to Huawei, the US move had little impact on the company, adding that the company would continue to be committed to diversifying its customer base.
